First Post

I sit forever and imagine I'm giving what I feel is good, solid advice to nobody except the imaginary people in my head.  No, they don't talk back...

So I've decided to start a blog so I can stop talking to myself.  I actually try to give advice to my son and his wife, but you know how that goes....into one ear and out the other because, well, I'm "just mom" and what does mom know?  A lot, actually, after raising two boys and still with a daughter at home, I've managed to gain a lot of knowledge from my twenty plus years of being mom.  No, this is not a blog about raising children, though I might throw in an occasional tidbit here and there should I feel the need, but it is about the "art" of being (insert whatever you want here, mom, wife, dad, person) -, housekeeper, travel planner, cook, nurse, and more and applies to those who have grown kids, no kids, or a houseful of children,.

I absolutely don't claim to have all the answers.  No way, no how!  Take what I say with a grain of salt.  Every situation is different from income, to location, to kid's temperaments and personal preferences.  If you can be ever  so slightly entertained or gain a bit of knowledge by reading my post then I will be totally satisfied.

So what will I post on?  Cooking (I love to do it), travel (so, so important), cleaning (I hate to do it), money saving tricks (stretch that dollar...) or anything else that pops into my head.

I am full of ideas and will share my good ones, my not so good ones, and ones that have failed miserably.  I love to plan.  I need a job where all I do is plan.  Not that I don't usually follow through, I just really enjoy the planning process.  Right now I am planning for a vacation with my daughter and her friend for two weeks to California.  I am lucky enough to have family in a location that is great to go visit, but if I don't plan then we will end up bored, or worse yet, blowing the budget because we want to have fun and don't have any plans when there.  I think for every hour you spend planning a trip like this and figuring up cost, you save about half of what you would have spent on that trip.  One family may spend $1500 for a vacation and for the same trip I can spend $750 - $1000.  I'll be sure to write a blog about this soon.
